Style Watch—Top Trends for Spring 2012

In my next series of blogs, I will explore the newest wearable trends for spring.

Today’s Trend: COLOURBLOCKING!!

Now, I’m not talking about that 1985, tacky Cross Colours baggy look, but sophisticated use of color to make a great outfit for day or night. Colourblocking can be chic, sexy, and affordable. Just look at how some of the hottest stars make it work…

Rules for colourblocking: If you look at a color wheel (yes, the same one from elementary school) you can choose complimentary colors (opposite on color wheel), or analogous colors (next to each other on color wheel) for the best fashion effect.

Colors that look good together:
Complimentary--Turquoise and orange, blue and yellow
Analogous—lime green and yellow, blue and turquoise
Keep jewelry neutral (silver, gold), and you can add a print such as leopard to add dimension to the look.

Check out a few looks that I found. Some of these are not on clearance, but are should still be affordable for the budget-concious fashionista….

My Sears is Closing (sad face)…

Sears in one of the few all American stores that still exists.  You can get a bed, a tv, a washer or dryer, and outfit, and a wedding ring—all in the same spot.  It saddens me that the Sears in the mall here will be closing soon.  So to help them go out with a bang, I found some great items ON CLEARANCE that I think you may like as well.

Dollhouse® Women's Quartz –Black (was $50, now $24)

 Inked & Faded Women's 3/4 Sleeve Racer Jacket (was $40, now $19.99)
Ruby & Mila Buckledays Bag (was $50, now $10.49)

Beverly Drive Women's Plus Dolman Sleeve Cowlneck Sweater (was $44, now $15.39)
Ruby & Mila Stella Hobo

Ruby & Mila Stella Hobo (was $52, now $10.49)—would add a nice pop of color to lots of outfits!!

Apostrophe Women's Tie Neck Sleeveless Top (was $32, now $11)—I actually tried this on, I couldn’t bring myself to spend $32 dollars for it at the time…and I would let the necktie on the blouse hang instead of in that church bow…
UK Style by French Connection Women's Boot Winning – Black (was $70, now $29.00)—I love this boot!!!

Beverly Drive Women's Plus Grecian Temptress Dress (was $53, now $10.49) -- could be a cute summer dress, or with heels and accessories could be a nice dinner dress.

JCPenney Clearance

This is my very first time blogging!!! I am looking for a new hobby, something to make me feel like me again!!! I am a hard working woman and mother that loves to hit up clearance racks at my favorite stores (clothing and home interior). I believe it is possible to be fashionable on a budget. Every once in a while, I may post subjects that enter my mind (other than fashion), so bear with me, and we'll see how it goes.

One of my very favorite stores is J C Penney. This store has it all!!! Fashionable clothes for all, home decor, jewelry, you can't lose here!! Penney's is always having a sale. If you by something from there, you can complete the survey on the back of your receipt to get 15% off (this discount includes clearance prices!)

Here are some of my picks today from this store.  All items on clearance!!
